Choosing your wedding music during the Credit CrunchWeddings are expensive things, and cost-cutting might be the order of the day, but think twice before you cut out the live music. With current headlines full of doom and gloom, nobody can be blamed for trying to cut some costs - even when it comes to a once-in-a-lifetime event like a wedding. Looking at the various items which make up your wedding budget, cutting the live music might seem like an obvious place to make a saving, but do think twice before you decide not to book a band for your wedding reception. Why? Because from what our customers tell us, a quality band will be the high point of the evening and it will be what your guests remember and talk about long after they have forgotten what they ate, or what shoes the bridesmaids were wearing. That said, economies can still be made. If your reception is finishing at midnight - usually the case at most wedding venues - there is usually no need to hire a DJ as well as a live band. Guests rarely want to get on to the dance floor before 8.30 or 9.00 pm, and it's often later. By the time you have finished the wedding breakfast and speeches, cut the cake, and your guests have stretched their legs and perhaps taken a stroll around the grounds of your wedding venue on a balmy summer evening, it can even be 9.30 or 10.00 pm before they're in the mood to boogy. With most live bands playing for two hours in total, you can see that this leaves little time for the DJ. If you are planning to carry on after midnight, you could also consider playing your own recorded compilations instead of a live DJ. By that time, with the Champagne having flowed freely, few of your guests will notice! |
