How to Book

Booking
After browsing the acts on-line, most of our customers like to receive a publicity pack and compilation CD, which features full tracks in hi-fi sound. If you want to book an act then just ring or e-mail us and we can confirm their availability and then discuss the information we need for the contract - times, venue, etc.

Seeing the act performing live and "first refusals"
In some cases it may be possible to see an act performing live before making a final decision whether to book them. This will depend on whether they have any bookings coming up where access to the general public is feasible. In these cases, acts are usually able to hold the date for you on a first refusal basis.

What is included in the quoted price?
Our price promise states that if you are offered the same act at a lower price or on better terms by another agency then come back to us and we promise to match their offer. Our quoted price is the full price payable including travel and VAT. Most of our acts are not VAT-rated, so there is no extra VAT to pay, but even with a VAT-rated act, the price we quote is always the fully inclusive price. We believe in fair treatment for our performers, so for an evening booking, our contracts usually ask you to provide hot meals for the artists - a bar-type meal is fine. If your venue can’t provide food, you can give the act a meal allowance instead. All acts bring everything they need including lighting and sound equipment where necessary, in which case they will need access to an adequate power supply. Most bands’ PA systems are suitable for audiences of up to 150 in rooms or marquees of corresponding size. For larger events there may be an additional charge for a larger PA. Bands normally provide recorded music before their performance, during the breaks between sets and after their performance, at no extra cost.

Contracts
Once the booking is confirmed, Function Junction will draw up a contract between you and the act, which the act will sign first and we will then send on to you for your signature. Our contract conforms to best industry standards and is written in plain English.

Deposit
When you return your signed contract, we will require a 50% advance payment of which 20% is non-returnable and the remaining 30% will be held in our Clients Account as a Hirer’s Deposit. Payment can be made by cheque or credit card. The Hirer’s Deposit will not be released to the act until we know that they have satisfactorily fulfilled the engagement. Where a VAT-rated act is booked, the non-returnable element will be calculated as 20% of the total fee excluding VAT.

Final payment
You will need to pay the other 50% to the act on the night, or if you prefer we can take this payment by credit card.

After booking
With Function Junction, things don't simply end with the contract. We strongly believe that a large part of our job is to make sure that the acts have all the information they need for everything to run smoothly on the day. After the contract has been signed we will contact you again for more of the on-the-day details, such as first dance requests, set times, room size, etc. Where it would be helpful for you to speak directly to the act, we can also arrange this.

What happens if I cancel my booking?
If a booking is cancelled it may be possible to return some or all of the Hirer’s Deposit. This will be at the discretion of the act and will mainly depend on whether they are able to secure an alternative booking of similar value.

Terms of Business
The conduct of all entertainment agencies comes under the Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003. Under these regulations, Function Junction operates as an “employment agency” having been given authority to act on this basis on behalf of the acts we promote. The information above constitutes our terms of business which will apply if you - the Hirer - book an act.
