Salsa/Latin
In this section we feature some hot Salsa and some cool jazz. Salsa is the name originally given by New York clubs to the hot Latin dance music which combines exciting rhythms from the Caribbean, Central and South America. The bands are usually able to show some basic steps to the inexperienced dancer, but the music is so infectious that everyone will want to join in whatever their level of skill!
From its earliest days, Jazz has had a love affair with Latin music. One of the most fruitful collaborations was between sax player Stan Getz and the Brazilian Bossa Nova musicians Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Joao and Astrud Gilberto. This produced The Girl from Ipanema which became a worldwide hit, and is typical of smooth Latin jazz.
