Soundial is a funky jazz band featuring some of the UK’s leading up-and-coming players. Sax and flute player Ian East was a Perrier Young Jazz Musician of the Year finalist in 1999 and other band members (Patrick Naylor – guitar, David Beebee – bass and piano) have played on Channel 4 and Radio 4 soundtracks, performed at Ronnie Scott’s world-famous Soho jazz club, and backed top soul and pop artists.
The usual line-up is vocals plus sax/flute, bass, drums and either piano, guitar or both. The band’s demo CD tracks feature them playing both instrumental and vocal tracks, where they are joined by singer Andrea Wright. Andrea is an experienced performer in London’s jazz bars and clubs as well as receptions and events of all kinds.
Our quoted price is for the five-piece line-up, which can play for about two-and-a-half hours over a four hour stay and includes PA. The band specialises in the funkier side of jazz, but can also play smoochy standards (show tunes from Gershwin, Cole Porter, etc) and some jazz-rock tinged material played by bands such as Weather Report.
