Swing City is a talented band made up of graduates from the country’s top music colleges. Their musical training and professionalism shine through in their versatility, their superb arrangements and their polished presentation, but this wouldn’t be enough if, whatever the band’s name, the whole show didn’t actually swing too. But swing it does, with a vengeance! Whether playing smooth Sinatra show tunes or pop hits from the last 40 years, this band will have guests of all ages on the dance floor, ready to jive the night away.
The usual instrumental line-up of the band is keyboards, bass, drums, guitar with a brass section of two saxes, trumpet and trombone. This gives Swing City that great Big Band sound and the versatility to cover the pop and soul repertoire too. The band then adds either one or both vocalists, bringing the full line-up to either a nine or ten-piece, with the male vocalist covering all the jazz and swing material and the female vocalist covering the pop/rock numbers.
The band brings a full PA and lighting system and can provide recorded music during their breaks. Usual playing time is up to three 45-minute sets.
The band have been together for three years and have played for private and corporate functions at top venues in the UK as well as in France and Switzerland. A recent highlight was performing at the wedding of Terry Wogan’s daughter.
