Choosing a ceilidh/folk band
Ceilidh (pronounced "kay-lee") bands, which are also known as a barn dance bands, are great for getting everyone up and dancing, especially when you have a wide mix of ages!
All our ceilidh bands usually come with one or two "callers", who guide you through the dance steps, so no previous knowledge of the dances is required. Most of the bands play a variety of English, Scottish and Irish traditional tunes, but some also specialise in music from a particular region.
When you want a rest from the dancing - or if you just want music to listen to rather than dance to - our bands are happy to perform from a wide repertoire of ballads, shanties, and popular folk songs. They can also play your own CDs through their PA systems during their breaks if required.
