Choosing a 60s to 2000s band
The universal appeal of 60s to 2000s bands means that this is Function Junction's most popular category. These bands generally focus on one of three main musical genres:
1) pop rock (eg: a guitar based band playing Beatles to Britpop)
2) 'cheesy' pop (playing Abba to The Village People)
3) soul/pop (James Brown to Jamiroquai)
There are also some bands who include two or even all three of these genres in their repertoire.
The aim of these bands is to get all your guests up and dancing. People often worry about their older guests being catered for musically but it is useful to remember that guests who are in their sixties now, were teenagers in 1960.
The majority of these bands will play for a total of two hours, divided into three 40-minute or two on-hour sets. If you are worried about whether this sounds enough live playing time, you might want to read our answer to the FAQ: How long do bands play? Will this be enough? All these bands also provide recorded music in their breaks, and a few can also offer a full DJ service for an additional charge.
