Hiring a Band
Our booking terms and processes have changed with the introduction of our online booking system in December 2010. For bookings made under the old system see How to book (pre online booking system).
There are also answers to relevant FAQs about booking, etc at Help/Advice.

After booking
If you want to book an act then just ring or e-mail us and we can confirm their availability and then discuss the information we need for the contract - times, venue, etc.
Either contact us direct by phone or e-mail, or add the acts you are interested in to My Acts and make an online enquiry. We can then confirm availability and price and send you a publicity pack and compilation CD, which features full tracks in hi-fi sound.
In some cases it may be possible to see an act performing live before making a final decision whether to book them. This will depend on whether they have any bookings coming up where access to the general public is feasible. In these cases, acts are usually able to hold the date for you on a first refusal basis.
Our price promise states that if you are offered the same act at a lower price or on better terms by another agency then come back to us and we promise to match their offer. Our quoted price is the full price payable including travel and any VAT. Most of our acts are not VAT-rated, so there is no extra VAT to pay, but even with a VAT-rated act, the price we quote is always the fully inclusive price. We believe in fair treatment for our performers, so for an evening booking, our contracts usually ask you to provide hot meals for the artists - a bar-type meal is fine. If your venue can’t provide food, you can give the act a meal allowance instead. All acts bring everything they need including lighting and sound equipment where necessary, in which case they will need access to an adequate power supply. Most bands’ PA systems are suitable for audiences of up to 150 in rooms or marquees of corresponding size. For larger events there may be an additional charge for a larger PA. Bands normally provide recorded music before their performance, during the breaks between sets and after their performance, at no extra cost.
Once the booking is confirmed, and we have the times, venue and any other necessary details, we will draw up an online contract between you and the act. We give you a login name and password giving you access to the Function Junction online booking system. You will then be able to view, check and agree the contract, and pay a non-refundable booking fee which is usually 20% of the quoted price. Unless otherwise agreed, the “Balance” of the quoted price (usually 80%) will be payable to the act on the date of performance by cheque or in cash.
If you cancel your booking, there is a cancellation charge on the following scale:
Date of cancellation
Cancellation Charge
180 days before date of event
No Cancellation Charge
90-180 days before date of event
50% of Balance
45-90 days before date of event
75% of Balance
Less than 45 days before date of event
100% of Balance
With Function Junction, things don't simply end with the contract. We strongly believe that a large part of our job is to make sure that the acts have all the information they need for everything to run smoothly on the day. After the contract has been agreed, we will use our online booking system to set up an event coordination form so that your can provide more of the on-the-day details, such as first dance requests, set times, room size, etc. Where it would be helpful for you to speak directly to the act, we can also arrange this.
